Gartner has named Google a Leader in its 2021 Magic Quadrant for Cloud AI Developer Services. We believe this recognition is based on Gartner’s evaluation of Google Cloud’s language, vision, conversational, and structured data services and solutions for developers. Gartner’s recognition is also a reflection of the confidence and satisfaction that customers have in our products.

Developers benefit in many ways by using Cloud AI services and solutions. Advantages include a cohesive and integrated stack, a reliable approach grounded in the principles of Responsible AI, and access to the best of Google’s AI technologies. As organizations move from AI experimentation to production, we see developers choosing turnkey services like AutoML, and solutions like Document AI and Contact Center AI to get over the cold-start problem with AI. Our ‘Leader’ placement validates this vision for AI developer tools. Let’s take a closer look at some of Gartner’s findings.

A cohesive AI stack for developers

Developers have the flexibility to use state of the art off-the-shelf solutions for faster time to value, or the building blocks and services powering the solutions for fine-grained control. This flexibility is made possible by the deep integration and cohesion across the Cloud AI developer stack. As an example, we recently announced the GA of Dialogflow CX that helps developers build out custom conversational AI solutions for complex contact center use cases. Dialogflow CX is built on top of Google’s pioneering Natural Language Understanding (NLU) algorithms that can also be used via our pre-trained ML APIs. Our AI solutions and services evolve in lockstep—which helps us roll out new capabilities and innovations across services and solutions in a consistent way.

Responsible AI principles and practices

Responsible AI is core to organizations achieving successful AI. A joint study with the Economic Intelligence Unit revealed that Responsible AI is providing a competitive edge for organizations that embrace it proactively. Our vision to empower every organization to transform their business with AI is inspired by Google’s mission of universal access to information. These values are core to our Responsible AI practice and Explainable AI tools and services. Apart from providing the best-in-class tools for model understanding and evaluation, we are steering a path with best practices, design guides, and education that advocates for AI governance in organizations.

Purpose-built AI solutions for industry use cases

Two years ago, we spoke about the advent of a new era of Deployed AI. Since then, we have made tremendous progress in bringing solutions that help organizations deploy AI to solve key business challenges across industries. Solutions like Contact Center AI and Document AI for lending, and procurement have been adopted by a number of organizations in financial services, telco, retail, and healthcare. Providers of enterprise cloud applications like Workday leverage our Document AI solution to automate the processing of receipts with multi-language support as a core component of their expense receipt scanning capability. We have also  built solutions for Media Translation, Industrial Inspection, and Product Discovery Solutions for Retail. Customers have seen exciting results from the adoption of these solutions. For example, retailers using our Recommendations AI have seen an increase of up to 90% in click-thru rate and up to 50% in revenue.

Our focus on AI solutions stems from the belief that developers are critical for deploying AI in business, and should be able to do it without requiring deep ML expertise and time. As the adoption of AI increases, more organizations are turning to Google Cloud to plan their transformation strategy, and build their in-house capabilities.

At Google Cloud, we’re passionate about helping developers in organizations of all sizes to deploy AI into their applications and workflows quickly and easily.
