Google Cloud Partners with Code of Support to help veterans & caregivers build cloud computing skills

Today, Code of Support Foundation (COSF) announces a new partnership with Google Cloud to provide complimentary Google Cloud Skills Boost access to 500 veterans and caregivers. This is part of a larger effort to connect those transitioning from military service to careers in cloud computing and technical jobs.
COSF operates the national PATRIOTlink® network of fully-vetted, no-cost services for veterans and caregivers. Through its digital PATRIOTlink platform and direct Case Coordination services, COSF connects veterans and caregivers to the people and resources they need to live full, healthy lives.
“Code of Support is thrilled to partner with Google Cloud to help veterans and caregivers learn cloud computing skills,” said Court Ogilvie, Acting Executive Director of the Code of Support Foundation. “These essential skills will open doors and give veterans a big advantage when applying for jobs or changing careers.”
By serving those who have served our country, Code of Support sees firsthand the potential link between those transitioning from military careers and the growing demand for cloud computing skills.

Veterans and caregivers can use Google Cloud Skills Boost to gain cloud experience, attain skill badge credentials, and prepare for Google Cloud certifications. An estimated 70% of Google Cloud certified individuals who applied for a new job received at least one offer. Learners can prepare for certifications like Cloud Digital Leader, which assesses general cloud knowledge, and Associate Cloud Engineer, which assesses the ability to implement cloud solutions based on technical requirements. Through this partnership, participants can also ask technical questions and get advice from a Google team member who holds Google Cloud certifications.
The Code of Support Foundation also works to support veterans with their job search. In November 2022, COSF partnered with Google Cloud Authorized Training Partner ROI Training to offer “Journey to the Cloud” – a panel of veterans working in the technology sector, sharing their career journeys and lessons. The panel included MK Palmore, Director of the Office of the CISO at Google Cloud, who discussed his own journey as a veteran to a cloud career.
“My military experience taught me that developing a feeling of self-worth and determination when transitioning to civilian life can be challenging,” said MK. “Being a part of the process of training, upskilling, and providing credentials to veterans in cloud computing skills is just one way Google Cloud shows its pride in helping our nation’s heroes during that transition period.”
