Editor’s note: Today’s post comes from Maggy Larouche, senior producer of Jurassic World Alive at Ludia, one of Canada's leading mobile video game companies. Jurassic World Alive brings players up close with their favorite prehistoric creatures from the Jurassic World film franchise using Google Maps Platform.

Jurassic World Alive is Ludia’s first geolocation game. With every game we develop at Ludia, we try to push the boundaries to build something we’ve never done before. In the case of Jurassic World Alive, we went really far by mixing the real world with the virtual world—creating that sense of majesty and awe associated with bringing dinosaurs into the real world–and into your neighborhood.

When we started the project, we knew from day one that we needed a solution for both a scalable map and identifying accurate points of interest to provide safe, and location relevant gameplay. We started looking into different partners and selected Google Maps Platform very early on. Why? Because it’s a solution that is designed and built for games, and it provides the customization needed for creating a user interface that feels seamless in Jurassic World.

Since the launch in May, 2018, Jurassic World Alive has been downloaded more than 15 million times and is one of our most successful games to date.

This is our journey with Google Maps Platform.
