With the launch of AlloyDB for PostgreSQL in Google Cloud, customers are increasingly interested in eliminating their dependency on high-cost, legacy databases with unfriendly licensing and moving to cost effective, open, fully supported, high-performance databases. However, some customers have workloads that are restricted to on-premises data centers due to regulatory or data sovereignty requirements, or workloads they need to run at the edge. Some customers also have workloads that run in multiple clouds for geographic or historical reasons.
Today, we announced the general availability of AlloyDB Omni, the downloadable edition of AlloyDB, which offers a compelling choice for these workloads, providing the flexibility to run the same enterprise-class database across their environments, backed by Google’s enterprise support organization, at a fraction of the cost of legacy databases and without unfriendly licensing terms. AlloyDB runs virtually anywhere — on Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google Distributed Cloud Hosted, on-premises, and even on developer laptops. Get started today with AlloyDB Omni.
At GA, AlloyDB Omni includes support for AlloyDB AI, an integrated set of capabilities built into AlloyDB for PostgreSQL, to help developers build enterprise-grade gen AI applications using their operational data. AlloyDB AI delivers 10x faster vector queries than standard PostgreSQL, easy embeddings generation using SQL, and integrations with the Google Cloud AI ecosystem including the Vertex AI Model Garden and open source gen AI tools.
To ensure customers can get the highest level of support for their mission-critical applications, Google Cloud Customer Care is now available for AlloyDB Omni, following the standard support levels described here; the support plan chosen by the customer for their Google Cloud account will automatically apply to the AlloyDB Omni SKUs purchased in that account.
We are also launching the preview of the AlloyDB Omni Kubernetes operator, which simplifies common database tasks including database provisioning, backups, secure connectivity, and observability, allowing you to run AlloyDB Omni in most Kubernetes environments. We plan to expand the capabilities of our Kubernetes operator to ensure it provides the features that customers need to run their most important database workloads in their Kubernetes environments.
To address customer concerns with the cost of their legacy databases, we designed AlloyDB Omni pricing to be simple, affordable, easy to manage, and easy to scale as workloads grow. AlloyDB Omni is available with a monthly subscription for a 16-vCPU Starter Pack at $1,295 per month; in monthly subscriptions for 100-vCPU blocks for $6,995 per month; and discounts are available for 1-year and 3-year commitments, in addition to existing enterprise discount plans (EDP). The vCPUs in each pack can be used across multiple servers or virtual machines as needed; there is no requirement to use all of the vCPUs in a pack on a set number of servers, nor on a single server. AlloyDB Omni is covered by the Google Cloud support plan the customer has chosen for their Google Cloud account; more information on support can be found at https://cloud.google.com/support.
Technology partners, system integrators and ISVs play an important role in helping customers modernize and build differentiated applications. With the general availability of AlloyDB Omni, we are extending the AlloyDB Cloud Ready program to now include AlloyDB Omni and enable our partner ecosystem to bring the best of what AlloyDB Omni has to offer to their customers. Validated partners are showcased on the AlloyDB Omni product site and documentation page. Customers can trust these validated partner products to work well with AlloyDB Omni, and can focus their time on modernizing database workloads and applications that will drive value for their business. We welcome partners to apply to the Google Cloud Ready - AlloyDB Omni for PostgreSQL initiative by filling out this intake form.
