Free trialGoogle I/O brought a fresh wave of tools from Google Cloud, all designed to help businesses and developers build what's next. These updates bring new ways for organizations to work with AI, code more easily, create media, and manage intelligent agents. Here's a look at the top Google Cloud news from the event:
Get creative with new gen AI models for media
We introduced new generative AI models for media, including Veo 3 for video, Imagen 4 for images, and Lyria 2 for music on Vertex AI. These models give you excellent ways to create visual and audio content from text prompts. They come with built-in features like watermarking and safety filters to help you create content with security and responsibility in mind. Learn more in our blog here.

Expand what’s possible with Gemini 2.5
We've expanded Gemini 2.5 Flash and Pro model capabilities to help enterprises build more sophisticated and secure AI-driven applications and agents. With thought summaries, businesses get clarity and auditability of a model’s raw thoughts — including key details and tool usage. The new Deep Think mode uses research techniques that enable the model to consider multiple hypotheses before responding. This enhanced reasoning mode is designed for highly-complex use cases like math and coding and will be available to trusted testers soon on Vertex AI. Finally, our new security approach makes Gemini 2.5 our most secure model family to date.
Gemini 2.5 Flash will be generally available for everyone in Vertex AI early June, with 2.5 Pro generally available soon after.
Code more easily with Gemini and Jules
Gemini 2.5 is now powering all Gemini Code Assist editions! Available in Visual Studio Code, JetBrains IDEs, and the Google Cloud Shell Editor, Gemini Code Assist for individuals is available at no cost to all developers. Users can now quickly pick up where they left off using chat history, guide Gemini's responses with specific rules, and automate repeated steps by creating custom commands.
In addition, we launched Jules, a new autonomous AI coding agent, now in public beta, designed to understand user intent and perform coding tasks like writing tests and fixing bugs. Jules integrates with existing repositories and operates asynchronously, allowing developers to focus on other tasks while it works in the background.
Quickly build apps with AI in Firebase Studio
Firebase Studio is a cloud-based, AI workspace powered by Gemini 2.5 that lets you turn your ideas into a full-stack app in minutes. Now you can import Figma designs directly into Firebase Studio using the builder.io plugin, and then add features and functionality using Gemini in Firebase without having to write any code. And rolling out over the next several weeks, when you use the App Prototyping agent, Firebase Studio can detect the need for a backend if your prompt includes it. Firebase Studio will now recommend Firebase Auth and Cloud Firestore, and when you're ready to publish the app to Firebase App Hosting, Firebase Studio will provision those services for you.
Easily deploy AI apps and build agents
We're making AI application deployment significantly easier with Cloud Run, launching three key updates: first, you can now deploy applications built in Google AI Studio directly to Cloud Run with just a single button click; second, we enabled direct deployment of Gemma 3 models from AI Studio to Cloud Run, complete with GPU support for scalable, pay-per-use endpoints; and third, we've introduced a new Cloud Run MCP server, which empowers MCP-compatible AI agents (like AI assistants, IDE integrations, or SDKs) to programmatically deploy applications. Build apps in AI Studio and deploy to Cloud Run
We’ve also made enhancements that provide more robust, flexible tools and streamlined workflows for creating and managing AI agents. We launched new versions of the Agent Development Kit (ADK) for Python and Java developers. The new Agent Engine UI offers an intuitive Google Cloud console interface for easier agent management, deployment, and monitoring. And the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol is being improved for more straightforward and secure communication between different agents. Check out the Google developer Blog for more details.
Connect, learn and build with the new Google Cloud & NVIDIA Community
At Google I/O, we introduced a new Google Cloud & NVIDIA community. Join today at no cost and connect with Google Cloud and NVIDIA experts in a dedicated forum. In the coming weeks, community members will gain access to exclusive learning content jointly curated by Google and NVIDIA, and credits for experimentation and prototyping.
Reply, translate, and create with new Workspace AI capabilities
Gmail now features a more personalized Smart Reply that learns from your past emails and files in Drive to suggest relevant responses. In Google Meet, you'll find real-time speech translation to facilitate more natural connection. Google Vids now includes AI avatars, allowing teams to efficiently create polished content like training videos and announcements by having an avatar deliver the message, which can make the creation process more efficient. Read more about these new AI capabilities.

Google I/O has unveiled a powerful suite of Google Cloud innovations designed to accelerate your journey from idea to impact and help you create, innovate, and lead in an AI-driven world. For more announcements and live demos, check out the full keynote from the event.
