Product Marketing Manager, State and Local Government, Google Cloud
When you toss a pebble into a still lake, the ripple impact is far-reaching. The same is true for our individual actions and decisions, even if it’s not always immediately visible. At Google Cloud, we’re committed to amplifying positive ripples by building for everyone and making sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion choices easier for individuals and organizations.
This year’s Google Cloud Government and Education Summit, November 3-4, is offering a unique opportunity to start or build on your personal and organizational transformation--no matter where you are in the journey.
In this dedicated track, we’ll share how Google is committed to making diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability part of everything we do – from how we build our products to how we build our workforce. We’ll also show how you can amplify the impact of your own choices when you have tools to make choices at scale. And, we’ll share how individuals and organizations across government and education are practicing this daily.
Here’s a peek at some of our engaging, empowering, and informative sessions.
We’ll kick off the track with Building Blocks for a Better Day. Gary Danoff, Head of Google Workspace, Public Sector, shares a fresh look at personal productivity in the new age of hybrid working. To demonstrate how a better day can start with inner reflection and intention-setting, we'll experience a guided meditation led by Meghana Jain, Senior Program Manager, who helps Googlers reach the best version of themselves through meditation and courses on inner growth.
Then, engage in a live, interactive session - Amplifying Voices: Developing a High-Impact Workforce through Belonging and Allyship – with Reggie Butler, Founder and CEO of Performance Paradigm. Reggie works with clients across industries and spends his time at the intersection of racial justice, law enforcement, and non-governmental organizations. Reggie will share how strong teams – and allyship – emerge when members take the time to understand and accept each other’s unique stories. He will also share insight on shifting the paradigm of traditional team structures to build team-level belonging and an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and confident in bringing their voice – and their power – to the table.
We’ll also share unique perspectives on the power of data to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). At Google, we believe that a data-informed approach is critical to inserting DEI into a company’s dialogue in a meaningful way and our ability to understand and act on data is essential to advancing DEI in the workplace and beyond. James Heighington, Global Head of Measurement & Reporting, Google, and Monali Shah, Head of Industry Solutions for Google Cloud, explore how we can quantify gaps, implement new approaches, and measure progress on addressing equity gaps. They also highlight how organizations can move from talking about equity in the public sector to implementing it in policies and practices.
In “Energizing Climate Action and Sustainability in Your Organization,” we’ll discuss how organizations can make a difference in increasing sustainability across the public sector no matter the size or mission of the organization. Hear from Franco Amalfi, Strategic Business Executive Public Sector at Google Cloud Canada, Keiko Nomura, Director of Product Development of Climate Change, and Vik Pant, Chief Scientist and Chief Science Advisor of Natural Resources Canada, as they share their sustainability journeys with Google tools to elevate program and policy impact. With real-life applications on gaining geospatial insights that inform climate policy planning, organizations can empower climate action and sustainability across our society – taking steps in the right direction for the long-term viability of our planet.
This track also will provide an opportunity to strengthen leadership by cultivating stronger personal relationships – at work and beyond. Join an empowering conversation with Carole Robin, Ph.D., co-founder of Leaders in Tech, and Mike Henry, Managing Director, Financial Services at Google, as they share how vulnerability, disclosure, and honesty are crucial elements in strong relationships.
Whether you’re in government or education, beginning or advancing your journey toward greater sustainability and DEI, this track has valuable and engaging opportunities for growth and transformation.
