To advance President Biden's Executive Order on Artificial Intelligence, the U.S. Department of the Treasury joins forces with Google Cloud to reimagine talent acquisition. The Treasury will harness the newly announced Google Cloud Certificates to drive a new skills-based hiring effort to expand access to jobs in data analytics and cybersecurity.

"In an age of rapid innovation and adoption of new technology offering the promise of improved productivity, it is imperative that we equip every worker with accessible training and development opportunities to understand and apply this new technology,” said Todd Conklin, Chief AI Officer and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection, U.S. Department of the Treasury

No-cost access to new Google Cloud trainings

Google Cloud is providing higher education institutions, as well as government and nonprofit workforce development programs worldwide with no-cost access to the new Google Cloud Certificates and courses in generative AI, data analytics, and cybersecurity.

Gen AI has triggered massive demand for these skills, especially in the areas of cybersecurity and data analytics1. In the U.S. alone:

  • There are over 505,000 open entry-level roles2 related to a Cloud Cybersecurity Analyst, with a median annual salary of $135,0003.
  • There are more than 725,000 open entry-level roles4 related to a Cloud Data Analyst, with a median annual salary of $85,7005.

Available on YouTube and Google Cloud Skills Boost, these hands-on programs are designed to harness the power of cloud computing and prepare talent to meet digital transformation goals within the public sector:

  • Generative AI courses: Covering foundational principles to advanced model construction, these courses allow learners to earn skill badges and unlock generative AI's transformative capabilities within the public sector.
  • Google Cloud Cybersecurity Certificate: Bolster digital defenses with cybersecurity training, equipping learners to protect sensitive data, identify threats, and fortify critical public systems.
  • Google Cloud Data Analytics Certificate: Master the tools and techniques to derive actionable insights from extensive datasets, facilitating informed decision making within the public sector.

Along the way, learners get free access to generative AI tools to prepare them for success, including Google's interview prep tool, Interview Warmup.

Empowering the Public Sector through Google Cloud

Through Google Cloud’s commitment to the public sector, and an investment in upskilling learners to meet mission outcomes, Google Cloud Certificates are empowering government organizations to lead with confidence in the digital era.

“Google Cloud remains dedicated to empowering the public sector with leading-edge technologies and training,” said Leigh Palmer, Vice President, Delivery and Operations for Google Public Sector. “Our partnership with the U.S. Department of the Treasury is a powerful example of how skills-based training in areas like AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics can open doors to rewarding careers while building a cloud-enabled and forward-looking workforce.”
