Google Cloud named a Leader in first Forrester Wave: Public Cloud Development & Infrastructure Platforms for ANZ

September 9, 2020
Mark Innes

Vice President, ANZ at Google Cloud

The events of 2020 have only reinforced what we’ve heard from organisations across Australia and New Zealand (ANZ)—they’re turning to the cloud because they want to innovate faster, increase resilience, collaborate more efficiency, and deliver more value to their customers.

Today, we’re proud to share that Google Cloud has been recognised by Forrester as a leader in the first ANZ iteration of The Forrester Wave™ for Public Cloud Development and Infrastructure Platforms, Q3 2020

We believe this recognition highlights our continuing work to support businesses and organisations in the region, including launching our Sydney region in 2017 and our plans to launch a new region in Melbourne in 2021.

In the report, Forrester noted Google Cloud has built a compelling enterprise strategy using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML), analytics, containers, and functions to build new applications or modernise legacy ones. Our modern application platform Anthos, in particular, was recognised in the report for its hybrid and multi-cloud benefits.

Forrester also gave Google Cloud the highest possible scores across 21 criteria including Availability/Reliability, High-performance Compute Services, AI/Machine Learning, Security Certifications & Attestations, Partner Ecosystem, Product Roadmap & Innovations, and Customer Service and Staff Development.

Our AI/ML and analytics services were emphasised by our customers interviewed for the Forrester report as a strength for B2C use cases. Like Lendlease, who earlier this year launched Podium, which includes a suite of new products and services that will be used not only by Lendlease, but offered as-a-service to its clients, and in the future the industry.

In recent months, we’ve continued to see many examples of ANZ enterprises that are building on Google Cloud for data-led innovation. These include Macquarie Bank, which is embracing Anthos to move at speed as they drive innovative banking experiences for their customers, Woolworths, which is using Business Messages to enable customers to search for products in-store and receive COVID-19 related updates, and Optus which used Dialogflow to build its Assistant Chatbot that has supported more than 2 million conversations.
