Monitor and troubleshoot

This page describes how to monitor traffic, error rates, and latency by API method from the Discovery Engine console, and how to access the APIs & Services console for additional API method metrics, quotas, credentials, and service cost information.

Introduction

Providing accurate document information and user events is important to getting the highest quality results. Monitoring API method metrics can help you find and fix errors that occur during data import.

Monitor API method activity

To see graphs of traffic, errors, and latency by API method over time:

  1. Go to the Discovery Engine Monitoring page in the Google Cloud console.

    Go to the Monitoring page

  2. Select a preset time period or enter a custom time range.

  3. To see more details about each graph:

    • Select method names in a graph's legend to isolate them in that graph.

    • Hold the pointer of your cursor over a graph to see a callout with each method and its values at that point in time.

    • Click and drag over any section of the graph to zoom in on that period of time.

View API usage overview

To see an overview of your API usage over time, including costs and percentages of quotas used:

  1. Go to the Discovery Engine Monitoring page in the Google Cloud console.

  2. On the button bar, click View API metrics.

    The Cloud console API/Service Detail page for the Discovery Engine API
    opens.
