Configuring Velostrata Manager on Google Cloud

Velostrata Manager runs on a Compute Engine VM. This page describes how to deploy and configure Velostrata Manager.

Deploying Velostrata Manager

To launch Velostrata Manager on Google Cloud:

  1. Open Velostrata on Google Cloud Marketplace. Click Launch.
  2. Select the GCP Project that will host your Velostrata Manager.
  3. Enter a Deployment Name for the Manager.
  4. Choose the Google Cloud Zone for your Velostrata Manager.

  5. Select the VPC Network and Subnet.

  6. Choose a Password to log into the Velostrata Manager, and a Private Key Encryption Password. Both need to be longer than 8 characters. If you would like to specify a specific Service Account or Network Tags for the Manager, do that here. For more information, see Setting up networks on Google Cloud.

  7. Click Accept for the Google Cloud Marketplace Marketplace Terms of Service.

  8. Click Deploy. The deployment progress screen appears. When complete, note the IP Address of the Manager.

Configuring Velostrata Manager on Google Cloud

  1. Sign in to the Velostrata Manager using the User Name localsupport and the Password that you specified when configuring Velostrata Manager.

  2. After you sign in, you are asked if you want to Enable Automatic Support Bundle Upload, which provides Velostrata the following information:

    1. Configuration and logs
    2. Telemetry, or metrics on usage and performance
  3. Check that you have accepted the End User Service Agreement in order to use Velostrata.

  4. When the Velostrata Manager home page appears, click System Settings.

  5. For VMware to Google Cloud migrations only, click Create Token and copy the token to the clipboard. This token will be used to configure the Velostrata Backend on vSphere.

Changing the Velostrata Manager password

You can change the password for your Velostrata Manager on the Google Cloud console. To do so:

  1. Open your Compute Engine instances
  2. Find your Velostrata Manager instance (for example velostrata-1-vm) and click on its name.
  3. In the top bar, click Edit.
  4. In the Custom metadata section, edit the value for apiPassword.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Save.
