Today, Google Cloud is extending its strategic partnership with Intel by collaborating on Anthos to meet customers wherever they are on their cloud journey, and make it possible for them to take advantage of the cloud.

Anthos enables companies to leverage existing on-premises investments while providing a clear path to move to the cloud—without vendor lock-in. As part of this partnership, Intel will be delivering a pre-verified reference design for Anthos delivered with leading data center systems providers to help enterprises seamlessly move workloads between the cloud and on-premises. The Anthos reference architecture will be delivered as an Intel Select Solution and will offer pre-optimized performance configurations that are rigorously benchmark-tested and optimized for critical customer workloads. Intel architecture optimizations for Kubernetes will be integrated into the reference design, helping to ensure workload portability for customer hybrid environments.

Specifically, a developer version and a production version of the Intel Select Solution reference design for OEMs and System Integrator partners will be made available later this year. This means that OEMs and System Integrator partners can accelerate deployment of workload-optimized Anthos designs and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) for enterprise customers.

“Customers are seeking solutions that provide portability of workloads across fully optimized hybrid cloud environments,” says Lisa Spelman, Vice President and General Manager of Xeon Products and Data Center Marketing at Intel. “We are collaborating with Google Cloud to meet that customer need starting with Intel Select Solutions verified hardware reference designs and providing the GCP management stack on top to deliver seamless workload portability and performance.”

Today’s announcement is just one example of our long-standing engineering collaboration with Intel. In addition to today's news, we also recently announced the availability of the 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor on Google Compute Engine. We look forward to continuing to work together to provide infrastructure and platform innovation to our shared customers.
