Sanofi drives digital transformation with Google Cloud
My conversations with healthcare customers have made it clear that the industry is moving to a more data-centric model, one that can deliver deeper insights to physicians, help them make better-informed decisions, and provide better care for patients. This transformation goes hand in hand with Google's mission to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible, secure and useful.
Today, in an effort to get closer to this goal, we are announcing a collaboration with Sanofi, a healthcare organization dedicated to improving the lives of people worldwide through globally-available vaccines, accessible consumer healthcare, primary care, specialty care for oncology and rare diseases, and care in emerging markets.
The goal of the collaboration is for Sanofi and Google to work together to accelerate the cycle of healthcare innovation to populations throughout the world. As the cost of development of new healthcare products has increased, life sciences companies are looking to data driven, digital innovation to help fuel the creation of accessible healthcare advancements. With Google Cloud solutions, Sanofi will drive innovation and efficiency through modern infrastructure and advanced analytics such as machine learning and artificial intelligence.
Sanofi and Google will work closely on two core initiatives. The first will be to build an Innovation Lab to test and explore solutions focused on how technology can:
Enhance the understanding of patients and diseases
Drive productivity gains for business operations
Promote patient outcomes and access to healthcare through the use of technology
The Innovation Lab will bring together Sanofi executives and experts across Google to discuss challenges in the healthcare space and how we can create solutions together.
Secondly, Sanofi will leverage Google Cloud Platform to modernize their infrastructure, migrating workloads to the Google Cloud, and building an analytics and machine learning platform to glean better insights from their data.
“We are excited to work with Google to receive advanced insights from patient data, make better informed decisions, and deliver exceptional care to our patients across the globe,” said Ameet Nathwani, M.D., chief digital officer, chief medical officer and executive vice president of medical at Sanofi. “Google has an incredible network of experts across the healthcare industry and we see this as a tremendous opportunity to work together to solve industry and business related challenges. We are confident that Google will greatly accelerate our journey towards becoming a data-centric life-science company, while also helping health care ecosystems enhance and integrate their capabilities towards prevention, identification and prediction of disease.”
As we continue our work with customers in the healthcare industry, the impact of cloud computing becomes increasingly clear. Life science companies are looking to significantly increase the value they can provide to patients through data-driven insights, tailored solutions, and organized information that betters the interactions between patients, physicians and payers. We’re excited about the possibilities that Google Cloud’s secure, flexible, and connected infrastructure can provide to Sanofi.
