We announced the general availability of Service Extensions callouts for Google Cloud Application Load Balancers during Google Cloud Next ‘24. Service Extensions callouts allow organizations to customize and extend their Application Load Balancers using gRPC calls to user or partner managed services during data processing.

Today, we are excited to share some more exciting news: We are launching an ecosystem of nine partners which will build on top of the Application Load Balancers using Service Extensions.

Spotlight on key partners

These partners will add exciting new capabilities to the Application Load Balancers that enhance application security, experience, and observability. Read on for more information about each offering.

1. Broadcom: Broadcom’s data loss prevention (DLP) solution, Symantec DLP, delivers higher levels of protection to help mitigate data breach and compliance risks. Broadcom DLP provides robust detection technologies to help enterprises prevent accidental exposure and malicious breaches. Symantec DLP’s support for Service Extensions helps ensure our mutual customers can now apply DLP policies to Google Cloud workload traffic, enhancing information security and compliance with global data protection regulations to help mitigate risks.

2. Datadog: Customers can leverage Datadog Application Security to help detect a wide range of application and API attacks, including SQL injection, SSRF, XSS, API abuse, and Account Take Over. Datadog’s Application Security Management (ASM) solution also plans to leverage Service Extensions to block malicious traffic at the load balancer level, thereby safeguarding the customer’s infrastructure and application from attackers.

3. DataDome: DataDome is a leader in the cyber fraud protection space with a comprehensive platform built around real time detection and mitigations. With support for Service Extensions, DataDome is now able to analyze and protect HTTP requests received by load balancers in real time, determining if the request is legitimate or coming from a threat actor. Leveraging the scalability of Google Cloud and Service Extensions as a wrapper to collect necessary signals and provide responses, DataDome can now ensure its customers receive top-tier protection at the load balancer level, helping to guarantee uncompromised defense against any type of attack.

4. HUMAN Security:  HUMAN Security — a leader in disrupting bot attacks and preventing digital fraud and abuse — is using Service Extensions callouts to integrate with the Application Load Balancers on Google Cloud. This innovation allows HUMAN customers to efficiently filter out malicious bots closer to the edge, preventing fraud and account abuse while enhancing user experience with faster load times.

5. Imperva: Imperva Web Application Firewall (WAF) is a comprehensive security solution that protects web applications and APIs from a wide range of cyber threats. By integrating Imperva WAF with the Application Load Balancers, customers gain seamless protection for applications deployed on Google Cloud. This integration simplifies deployment and management while ensuring robust security against vulnerabilities, attacks, and data breaches.

6. Palo Alto Networks:  Securing APIs has become increasingly critical as businesses continue to adopt microservices architectures and cloud-based solutions. Prisma Cloud by Palo Alto Networks enhances API security by integrating with load balancers and utilizing Service Extensions for deeper visibility into API traffic. This integration enables Prisma Cloud to detect and prevent threats more effectively, especially in cloud-based and microservices environments. By correlating API security data with other security insights, Prisma Cloud helps strengthen the overall security posture, providing teams with a clearer understanding of their attack surface.

7. Queue-it: Queue-it is a leading developer of virtual waiting room services to control website and app traffic surges by offloading visitors to a waiting room. Its powerful SaaS platform enables enterprises and governments around the globe to keep their systems online and visitors informed, capturing key sales and online activity on their most business-critical days. Now, customers can leverage Queue-it with the Application Load Balancers, helping to ensure online trust during high-demand campaigns and activities.

8. Traceable: Traceable is a leading API Security company that helps organizations achieve API visibility and attack protection in a cloud-first, API-driven world. Traceable is a context-aware solution that powers API security, providing API discovery and posture management, API security testing, attack detection and protection — anywhere APIs live. The upcoming Service Extensions integration enables organizations to bring Traceable’s powerful security to the Application Load Balancers, minimizing risk and maximizing the value of their APIs.

9. Transmit Security: Integrating Transmit Security Detection and Response with the Application Load Balancers provides a comprehensive, identity-based detection and response solution, enhanced by AI-driven fraud prevention mechanisms. The upcoming Service Extensions integration empowers load balancers to assess each request in real time and apply risk recommendations dynamically, offering protection against emerging threats and early fraud prevention. It also improves performance by mitigating attacks closer to the source, reduces infrastructure costs, and enhances the customer experience by ensuring legitimate user access while blocking fraudulent activity.
