Accelerating cloud adoption in Poland with key partnership and a new cloud region

Digital technologies are becoming the next growth engine for the Polish economy. To prepare enterprises and public organizations of all sizes for this digital transformation, Poland must have a strong technology backbone and easy access to new innovations that will accelerate business development, complete with investments in technological solutions, support programs, digital skills training and knowledge sharing. This is why we are forming a strategic partnership with Poland’s Chmura Krajowa (OchK), helping new and established Polish businesses to take advantage of all that the cloud has to offer. 

As part of our strategic partnership, OchK, which was founded jointly by PKO Bank Polski and the Polish Development Fund, will become a reseller of Google Cloud services in Poland and will build managed services capabilities around Google Cloud. With this OchK partnership, we will be able to boost our support for Polish enterprises, providing advanced infrastructure and software that suits their needs. Together, our goal is to accelerate cloud adoption by large and small businesses alike, across all industries. Over the next five years we’ll train experts to help Polish businesses onboard to the cloud, as well as provide insights and strategic advice on how companies can maximize the benefits of their cloud deployments. 

And as part of our commitment to Poland and broader Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), we will also open a Google Cloud region in Warsaw, Poland. With this new region, Google Cloud customers operating in CEE will benefit from low latency and high performance of their cloud-based workloads and data. Designed for high availability, the region will have three zones to protect against service disruptions, and will launch with our portfolio of key products, including Compute Engine, App Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Bigtable, Cloud Spanner, and BigQuery.

At Google, infrastructure continues to be a key area of investment, underpinning all of the work that we do and supporting all of our products. Around the world, Google Cloud customers are currently served by 20 cloud regions and 61 availability zones. Today’s announcements complement Google’s long-standing commitment to Poland and neighbouring countries. Earlier this year, Google CEO Sundar Pichai visited Warsaw where he announced Google’s commitment of $20 million for digital skills programs across the CEE region. In addition, our R&D engineering center in Warsaw continues to grow each year and employs highly-skilled specialists who work on our global cloud computing solutions.

Poland is in a period of rapid growth, accelerating its digital transformation, and has become an international software engineering hub. The strategic partnership with OchK and the new Google Cloud region in Warsaw align with our commitment to boost Poland’s digital economy and will make it easier for Polish companies to build highly available, meaningful applications for their customers.
