Manage hardware accelerators for a user-managed notebooks instance

You can edit the number of GPUs to increase or decrease the number of hardware accelerators available for your user-managed notebooks instance.

In order to edit the number of GPUs for a user-managed notebooks instance, you must first stop the instance. For instructions on how to stop a user-managed notebooks instance, see Shut down a user-managed notebooks instance.

After you have shut down your user-managed notebooks instance, follow these steps to edit the number of hardware accelerators available for your instance:

  1. Select the stopped user-managed notebooks instance that you want to modify.

  2. In the GPUs column, select the type of GPUs that you want, and then the number of GPUs that you want for your user-managed notebooks instance. For information about the different GPUS, see GPUs on Compute Engine.

  3. After Vertex AI Workbench has finished updating the GPUs for your user-managed notebooks instance, you can start the instance by selecting your instance and then clicking Start.
