Browsing Cloud SQL Instances

This page explains how to browse and manage Cloud SQL resources with Cloud Tools for Visual Studio.

To browse and manage Cloud SQL resources:

  1. In Visual Studio, launch Cloud Explorer by selecting Tools > Google Cloud Tools.

    Cloud Explorer populates with your account’s projects and the Cloud SQL instances associated with the selected project.

  2. Right-click on a Cloud SQL instance and select Add Data Connection to display the Connection Properties dialog, pre-populated with the Cloud SQL instance’s IP address.

  3. Enter a username and password to show all the databases running on that Cloud SQL instance.

  4. Select a database and then select Test Connection to check the credentials for the database.

  5. After the Cloud SQL Data Connection is created, explore the database in the Server Explorer tool window in Visual Studio.
