Frequently asked questions
Who can receive benefits for the program?
The Program is designed for early stage startups, from bootstrapped to Series A. There are two tiers that startups can qualify for, Start and Scale.
Start is for technology startups:
- Not yet funded by an institutional investor
- Founded within the last five years
- Have not received Google Cloud credits (beyond the free trial)
Scale is for technology startups:
- Have verifiable startup equity funding or Web3 funding from pre-seed to series A (if Series A, raised within the last 12 months)
- Founded within the last 10 years
- Have not received more than $4,000 in Google Cloud credits

Where can I find my billing ID?
Your billing account ID is in an 18-digit alphanumeric format (ex. ABC123-DEF456-GHI789) and can be found in the Billing section of your Google Cloud Platform Console. Please review this video for assistance identifying and updating your Billing Account settings.
Please check for two things when you apply:
- Your startup may have more than one GCP Billing Account so please take care to select the Billing ID where you would like the credits issued, as we will deposit credits directly into the account you select.
- Please make sure that at least one of the Administrators listed for your billing account has included their business email address (not a gmail address) so that we can verify that the billing account belongs to your startup. This should be the same domain (i.e. @coolstartup.com) that you are using for your application.
What if my startup website domain and business email address are different?
When will I hear back from Google on whether my startup has been accepted?
In most cases you can expect to hear back within 3-5 business days.
If you recently created a new billing ID, your application may require a few additional days to process. If your company is in stealth mode and funding has not been publicly announced, it may take up to two weeks to verify your funding to qualify for the Scale tier. Please be sure to include any publicly available links in the funding section of your application to accelerate investment verification.
What GCP products can I use my credits towards? Can my credits be applied towards other Google products such as Google Workspace, Google Maps Platform, or Google Ads?
The Google Cloud credits you receive as part of the Program can only be used for Firebase and Google Cloud Platform Services such as BigQuery and Cloud Run, and Select Google Cloud Offerings like Looker.
You may be eligible for Google Workspace and Google Maps Platform benefits as part of the Program. Details will be provided in your welcome email upon approval.
