Monitoring agent for SAP HANA diagnostic information

Important: For new installations, instead of using the monitoring agent for SAP HANA, we recommend that you use its successor - Google Cloud's Agent for SAP. From version 2.0, Google Cloud's Agent for SAP combines SAP Host Agent metrics collection with other features such as monitoring SAP HANA.

If you are using the monitoring agent for SAP HANA, then we recommend that you switch to using version 3.2 (latest) of Google Cloud's Agent for SAP at your earliest convenience, but before support is discontinued for the monitoring agent for SAP HANA. Support for the monitoring agent for SAP HANA ends on May 31, 2024.

For problems that are related to version 2.0 of the Google Cloud monitoring agent for SAP HANA, provide the diagnostic information that is listed to Cloud Customer Care as soon as you can.

Before you open a case, make sure to check the following common issues:

• Ensure that the SAP HANA database user account that the monitoring agent for SAP HANA uses has access to the SAP HANA system views.
• Ensure the IAM service account that the monitoring agent for SAP HANA uses includes the "Monitoring Metric Writer" role.

Provide the following diagnostic information:

• A complete and detailed description of the problem or error, including:

  • The current application or system state.
  • The date and time when the error occurred.

• The version of the monitoring agent for SAP HANA that you are using. To see the version:

  • On RHEL, enter:

    sudo yum info google-saphanamonitoring-agent

  • On SLES, enter:

    sudo zypper info google-saphanamonitoring-agent

• Provide log file /var/log/google-saphanamonitoring-agent.log.

• After removing the user name and password, the monitoring agent for SAP HANA configuration file, /usr/sap/google-saphanamonitoring-agent/conf/configuration.yaml.
