NIST 800-34 - Contingency Planning

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), within the U.S. Department of Commerce, creates standards and guidelines pertaining to information security. NIST developed Special Publication 800-34 (SP 800-34), Contingency Planning Guide for Federal Information Systems, to provide instructions and recommendations for information technology systems contingency planning.

Google has documented its contingency planning processes against the requirements of SP 800-34 and was assessed by an independent third party. Based on this evaluation, Google Cloud Platform has received a letter of attestation that Google has met the contingency planning requirements outlined in SP 800-34. The NIST 800-34 attestation letter can be used by enterprises to validate Google’s approach to contingency planning.
