Starting and stopping cloud extensions

Stopping a Cloud Extension

Stopping a Cloud Extension stops the following components:

  • Cloud Extension Edge Node A
  • Cloud Extension Edge Node B

The Cloud Extension cannot be stopped if a VM is running in cloud is using it. Power off or migrate VMs to move them off the Cloud Extension.

A Cloud Extension automatically stops if it is idle for 60 minutes. It is considered idle if it is supporting no virtual machines running in the cloud.

You can stop a Cloud Extension from the Migrate for Compute Engine Manager or vCenter.

After logging into your Migrate for Compute Engine Manager:

  1. Click the Target Cloud icon.
  2. Select a running Cloud Extension.
  3. Click Stop.
  4. Click Yes to proceed when prompted, or No to cancel.
