Supported operating systems

Migrate for Compute Engine 4.2 by Google supports migrations of VMs running the following operating systems.

Before migrating Linux VMs to Google Cloud, you need to install an additional package that performs reconfigurations. For more information, see preparing Linux VMs.

Offline migration, where disk volumes are copied directly to Google Cloud and streaming data is not supported, has fewer operating system options. For more information, see Using offline migration.

Supported Windows versions

Note: For Windows preparation scripts to run successfully, PowerShell scripting must be allowed in the machine's Group Policy Object (GPO) configuration. Scripts are enabled in GPO by default, but if not you'll need to enable them.
