Viewing the cloud instance console log

Viewing the console log of a VM running on Google Cloud from vCenter or the Migrate for Compute Engine Manager can help with debugging or providing helpful details for Migrate for Compute Engine support. You can either save the log or copy it to the clipboard. When requesting support, please supply a copy of the related logs.

Migration Manager

1. Open the Migrate for Compute Engine Manager and click the Migration Waves icon.
2. Select a Wave that contains VMs that are being migrated.
3. From the Wave monitoring page, select a VM and click the Console Log button. In the console log, you can:
   • Save file and follow the dialogs to save to your local file system.
   • Save Logs to Clipboard.

vSphere vCenter

These steps are available if you installed the vSphere vCenter plug-in when you set up the Migrate for Compute Engine Backend.

1. Open vSphere, select the instance being migrated, and click the Summary tab.
2. In the Summary panel, expand the Cloud Instance Information portlet.
3. Click the black icon in the upper-right corner of the panel. The Cloud Instance Console Log is displayed. In the console log, you can:
   • Save file and follow the dialogs to save to your local file system.
   • Save Logs to the Clipboard.
