Offering managed services: standalone SaaS

SaaS pages are a quick and easy way to showcase the services offered by SaaS partners on Google Cloud Marketplace. Users learn about the partner and their SaaS offering(s), including service plans and benefits. They can purchase or enroll into service plans by clicking the partner's provided website link.

Technical requirements

  • Google Cloud project name. If you haven't already done so, create a project. Suggestion: use <partnername>-saas as your project ID.
  • You must have completed the project info form.
  • Link to the landing page on partner site.
  • Your product's logo or icon must be in the PNG format. The background must be transparent, with no text.
  • Co-branded landing page on partner's website which highlights joint product and enables customers to choose a service plan. For more information, see SaaS Landing page.

Business requirements

  • Completed Google Cloud partnership agreement
  • An existing managed service offering with pricing plans published on your website
  • An existing integration with Google Cloud

Roles and responsibilities

Google's Partner Manager: Assist partner with signing Google Cloud partnership agreement. Provide guidance on the marketing content. Approve the content before it goes live. (Partners who don't yet have an assigned Partner Manager may send questions or completed requirements to the Partner Support Desk, and should include the word "Marketplace" in their description. Partner's Marketing Lead: Responsible for creating content for Cloud Marketplace product page and landing page.

Expected customer experience

Your customer experience should be consistent with the browse/select/deploy buying experience on Cloud Marketplace.We want customers to opt in and get started with the product with minimum friction.

SaaS partner listings on Cloud Marketplace must ensure:

  • Customers coming to the Cloud Marketplace SaaS page are able to clearly understand the offering, including service plans, their benefits, and cost.
  • Customers viewing the partner's product page on Cloud Marketplace must be able to make a purchase decision before clicking the product's sign-up link (co-branded landing page).
  • Partner co-branded landing pages should provide customers the ability to sign up for their preferred service plans directly with minimum friction.

Onboarding process

The onboarding process begins after the requirements are met. The steps are as follows.

  1. Partner provides partner description, project ID, and other information.
  2. Google Partner Engineer creates the partner's entity in the Cloud Marketplace system.
  3. Google Partner Engineer allowlists Producer Portal in partner's project.
  4. Partner creates a solution and enters the content in the solution fields. This includes information such as pricing plans and details, a description of the service being provided, and the icon to be shown on the SaaS page.
  5. Partner submits the page for review. Google Partner Engineer and Google Partner Manager receive email.
  6. Your Google Partner Manager or Google Partner Engineer reviews the content and approves the page. After it's been approved, the SaaS page goes live within 10 minutes.

In the event of rejection, partners can update the content with the changes requested by the Google Partner Manager and then re-submit the page.

Create your standalone SaaS product

After your project has been added to the allowlist for Producer Portal, you can create your standalone Saas product.

  1. In Producer Portal, click Add Product.

  2. Select Standalone Listing and create a name for your product. (This can be changed later.) Then click Create.

  3. After the listing edit page is launched, you can edit the Product details section of your page. Under Product details, you can change attributes such as your product name, signup URL, product overview, Category ID, product image, and any custom information you'd like to add (e.g. "Features & Pricing"). To view a full preview of your product, you can click the Full Preview button on the top right.

  4. After you have modified the content for your SaaS page, you can check it out using the Full Preview button.

    When you're done inspecting the page, you can return using the arrow button on the top left.

SaaS landing page

Partners are required to have a co-branded landing page on their website. The landing page will serve as a home for redirected customer referral traffic from Cloud Marketplace. In addition, the landing page may also serve as a means to do push-marketing promotions, such as free trial campaigns or webinar registrations.
