Ordering a Dedicated Interconnect

Ordering a dedicated connection starts the creation process of your interconnect. When you order an interconnect, you specify details such as the capacity and the location of your interconnect. You can request the following capacities:

  • 1 x 10 Gbps circuit (10 Gbps) up to 8 x 10 Gbps circuits (80 Gbps)
  • 1 x 100 Gbps (100 Gbps) circuit up to 2 x 100 Gbps circuits (200 Gbps)

Console

  1. Go to the Cloud Interconnect Physical connections tab in the Google Cloud Platform Console.

  2. Select Set up connection.
  3. Select Dedicated Interconnect and then select Continue.
  4. Select Order new Dedicated Interconnect and then select Continue.
  5. Specify the details of the interconnect and then select Next.
    • Name — A name for the interconnect. This name is displayed in the console and used by the gcloud command-line tool to reference the interconnect, such as my-interconnect.
    • Location — The physical location where the interconnect is created. Your on-premises network must meet Google's network in this location.
    • Capacity — The total capacity of your interconnect, which is determined by the number and size of the circuits that you order. Select one of the following options:
      • 1 x 10 Gbps circuit in 10 Gbps increments up to 8 x 10 Gbps (80G) circuits
      • 1 x 100 Gbps circuit (100G)
      • 2 x 100 Gbps circuits (200G)
  6. If you require redundancy, specify details for your duplicate interconnect and then select Next.
  7. Specify your contact information.
    • Company name — The name of your organization to put in the LOA as the party authorized to request a cross connect.
    • Technical contact — An email address where notifications about this interconnect are sent. You don't need to enter your own address; you'll be included in all notifications. Note that you can specify only one address.
  8. Review your order. Check that your interconnect details and contact information are correct. If everything is correct, select Place order. If not, go back and edit the interconnect details.
  9. On the order confirmation page, review the next steps and then select Done.

gcloud

  1. Create an interconnect that is an interconnect type of DEDICATED.

  • --customer-name the name of your organization to put in the LOA as the party authorized to request a cross connect.
  • --interconnect-type must be DEDICATED.
  • --link-type
    • If you want your Cloud Interconnect to be made up of 10 Gbps circuits, replace [LINK_TYPE] with LINK_TYPE_ETHERNET_10G_LR.
    • If you want your Cloud Interconnect to be made up of 100 Gbps circuits, replace [LINK_TYPE] with LINK_TYPE_ETHERNET_100G_LR.
  • --location specifies the location where the interconnect is created. To list the names of locations, see Listing Locations.
  • --requested-link-count number of circuits of type link-type. This field combined with --link-type determines your total interconnect capacity. For example, for 2 x 100 (200G) circuits, this number would be 2.
  • --noc-contact-email and --description are optional. For the NOC contact, you can specify only one email address. You don't need to enter your own address; you'll be included in all notifications.
  1. For redundancy, create a duplicate interconnect that is in the same location but in a different metropolitan availability zone. For more information, see Redundancy.

After you order an interconnect, Google emails you a confirmation and allocates ports for you. When the allocation is complete, Google generates LOA-CFAs for your cross connects and emails them to you.

All of the automated emails are sent to the NOC contact and the email of the Google account used when ordering the interconnect. You can also get your LOA-CFAs by using the console, see Retrieving LOA-CFAs.

You'll be able to use the interconnect only after your cross connects have been provisioned and tested for light levels and IP connectivity.

You'll need to retrieve your LOA-CFAs and submit your LOA-CFAs to your vendor so that they can provision your cross connects. Contact the colocation facility that you're working with for more information.
