This session tackles AI's biggest production problem — stale, disconnected data. We explore how the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Google's open-source MCP Toolbox give agents real-time, grounded access to AlloyDB, BigQuery, and Spanner through simple YAML tool definitions. See two live demos: Prism, a multi-database retail agent that routes natural language to the right database; and a DB Builder agent that designs and extends full database backends from a plain English description.

What does it take to bring autonomous agents into real engineering environments?

In this talk, we'll share how we built Herogen, an internal multi-agent software delivery system that takes work items from ticket to pull request. Herogen integrates with our CI systems, code quality tooling, security checks, and review systems while coordinating setup, coding, and review agents behind the scenes. We'll share the architectural decisions, engineering challenges, and lessons learned while building and operating autonomous coding agents in a large-scale engineering environment, including what worked well, what surprised us, and where humans still remain essential in the development workflow.
