Keos is a technological innovation lab in the telecommunication business with presence in Colombia since 2005. Using artificial intelligence processes like Machine Learning and Big Data, the lab helps companies improve their relations and interactions with customers, providing a better user experience.

Meeting Market Needs Powerfully and Innovatively

In order to meet changing market needs in terms of connectivity, speed and response capacity, Keos was forced to go on a quest for more efficient and easier-to-use tools that, in turn, allowed it to maintain the level of data protection the company had always offered its customers.

The main market challenges it had to face were significantly reducing its products' time to market, reducing the costs of those products, performing high-speed data analyses, and building instant communication channels between customers and companies.

For a moment, Keos considered developing its own infrastructure, designed by and for them. However, they quickly ruled out that possibility as, in addition to being a large money investment, it would have required devoting a long time to developing and perfecting their technology. Moreover, the company was fully aware of the fact that, eventually, in a not so distant future, processes and storage would run directly on the cloud.

Thus, Keos decided to go for Google Cloud Platform, as it offers a high level of innovation and fast deployment, with the possibility to instantly rely on the tools already developed by the vendor to focus the company's efforts on improving their business concept.

Powerful Data Processing for Instant Response

The first steps taken by Keos to renew their IT area included hiring a team of technicians who would understand the new technologies and be eager to work with Google Cloud to renew the True Service platform, whose purpose was to analyze conversations between customers and companies using artificial intelligence.

In just 6 months, the migration of True Service services was completed, fully built on Google's architecture, streamlining processes and handling large information volumes. They also developed Pengi Live, a service that consists in a button to a voice call on a company's web page or app that links advisors and sellers to customers.

Amongst the great features of Google Cloud Platform pinpointed by Keos, scalability is crucial, allowing it to build flexible solutions paying only for what it uses.

In addition, for Keos, having different tools such as App Engine, BigQuery, Firebase, Kubernetes is extremely beneficial, as they are being constantly updated and upgraded which results in better service quality for customers who have access to flexible solutions that fit their capacity needs within specific time frames.

With Google Cloud Platform tools, all Keos services became micro services, that is, its staff no longer focuses on supervising physical servers but rather on overseeing the business itself, as well as on developing and building strategic relations with high data protection.

"Most of our customers are banks so security is crucial. Normally, banks do not want information to leave their premises and they insist on building infrastructures within their companies. With Google Cloud Platform, however, this was not an issue; on the contrary, we believe it is very safe. We know that if someone attempts to bring down our servers they won't be able to bring down Google."

Getting Closer to the Customer with Google Cloud Technology

Keos has secured multiple benefits since the deployment of Google Cloud Platform. One of the most significant ones has been time reduction: A development that used to take 3 months now takes only 10 minutes. A conciliation report that used to take 10 minutes now takes 10 seconds with BiqQuery. With the previous vendor, processing a 2-minute audio would take 2.5 minutes but with Google, it is possible to process 3 months of audio in one hour, without even using full power.

Previously, the higher Keos' service sales were (and with that, the higher processing was), the more expenses on processing machines increased. With Google, the business became more profitable with a significant cost reduction. For example, the True Service downtime costed around USD 600 dollars a day while downtime with Google Cloud costs only USD 56.
