ATB Financial: Reimagining banking with G Suite

ATB Financial: Creating a customer-focused culture shift with Google Workspace and Pixelbooks

Overview

To focus its banking business on the customer experience, ATB Financial wanted to fundamentally change how people work. Windows and Microsoft Office, along with slow VPNs, were a barrier to collaboration and required ongoing IT support. Google Workspace and Pixelbooks helped ATB change its work culture and respond to customer needs quickly and efficiently. Using VMware Horizon View for virtualization, ATB workers can access tools like the company’s SAP portal in just a few clicks.

Google Workspace and Pixelbook results

Replacing 50% of Windows laptops with Pixelbooks

Jump-started collaboration among employees across the company.

Delivered a more responsive customer experience.

Created teams of Google Workspace evangelists to drive rapid adoption.

Reduced dependence on complex VPNs.

“G Evangelists” help train workers and drive adoption

Using SoftWatch, ATB measured which Microsoft Office apps were most popular, then suggested comparable Google Workspace tools as replacements. To spur adoption, ATB chose employees across jobs, departments, and regions to be “G Evangelists” and “G Whizzes” to train and support colleagues during the Google Workspace rollout; implementation partner Onix helped run “train the trainer” sessions. For its Pixelbooks rollout, ATB used a similar strategy, asking business unit leaders to spread the word and support training.

Google Workspace helped us get IT back to what is meant to be—enabling people to do their best work, so people can do their best for our customers.
