Prepare for migration

This page describes the steps to prepare your AGM for migration.

Contact support

Before you start the migration, you need to contact customer support to upgrade your AGM and Sky appliances to the latest hotfix version and enable migration mode on Google Cloud Platform projects where your Actifio GO Sky Appliances are installed.

Customer support also helps you throughout the migration process.

Upgrade the AGM and Sky appliances

Customer support upgrades the AGM and Sky appliances to the latest hotfix. The AGM hotfix adds the Migrate option to the Manage menu. It also adds an Upgrade option to the Appliance page. The hotfix upgrade takes about 20 minutes for AGM and five minutes for Sky appliances to complete.

Enable migration mode for your Actifio GO project

You need to share your project ID with our support representative to enable migration mode to your Actifio GO Google Cloud project. It takes approximately 20 minutes to enable the permissions in your project. The support representative notifies you after the migration mode is enabled on your project.

Prepare your Actifio GO AGM

To migrate from Actifio GO, complete the following steps in the AGM that you want to migrate:

Delete dedup policies and expire your dedup images

Backup and DR doesn't support dedup policies. Before you start the migration to Backup and DR, you must delete the dedup policies and make sure that no dedup jobs are running.

Use these instructions to delete your dedup policies:

  1. In the AGM, go to SLA Architect, then Template.

  2. Select a template and click Edit. Check if the template has any dedup policies.

  3. Select the dedup policy and click Delete policy.

Use these instructions to expire your dedup images:

  1. In the AGM, go to App manager, then Applications.

  2. Right-click an application and select Access from the menu.

  3. Go to the table view, select the images you want to expire, and click Manage expiration.

  4. Select Expire now and then click Apply. This deletes the dedup and remote images.

  5. Go to Monitor, then Jobs and make sure no Dedup, Dedup-async, or Remote dedup jobs are running.

Remove on-premises Sky Appliances from the AGM and Report manager

Backup and DR doesn't support on-premises Sky Appliances. Before you start the migration to Backup and DR, you must remove them from the AGM and Report manager.

Use the following instructions to remove on-premises Sky Appliances from the AGM:

  1. In the AGM, go to Manage, then Appliances.

  2. Right-click the on-premises appliance you want to delete and select Remove appliance.

Use the following instructions to remove on-premises appliances from the Report manager:

  1. In the AGM, click Report.

  2. From the Report manager, click Manage and select appliances.

  3. Click the corresponding Delete button for the appliance you want to remove.

  4. Click OK in the confirmation dialog. It can take several minutes before the appliance is fully removed from the Report manager.
