Using Cloud SQL for MySQL

Cloud SQL for MySQL is a fully-managed database service that makes it easy to set up, maintain, manage, and administer your MySQL relational databases on Google Cloud Platform.

To use Cloud SQL with an app in the Google App Engine Python 2 Standard Environment:

  1. Set up Cloud SQL for MySQL.
  2. Configure your app to connect to Cloud SQL.
  3. Use standard methods provided by the language or third-party libraries such as sqlalchemy to write and query data.
  4. Use Cloud SQL Proxy for local testing.

For information on Cloud SQL pricing and limits, see the Cloud SQL Pricing page. App Engine applications are also subject to the App Engine quotas.
